CHILHOWEE BAPTIST CENTER

A MINISTRY OF THE CHURCHES OF THE CHILHOWEE BAPTIST ASSOCIATION.

We are the extended arms of the churches as we reach out to serve the needs of the people in Blount County.

Thanks to volunteers, we now have a usable flagpole on which to display the American flag, donated by Congressman Jimmy Duncan and the Tennessee state flag, donated by Representative Doug Overby.  We celebrated Flag Day by raising the flag.

34:  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  35:  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  36:  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  37:  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink?  38:  When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?

39:  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  40:  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.

 Matthew 25: 34-40

CHILHOWEE BAPTIST CENTER UPDATE

APRIL-MAY 2008

As I sit here trying to think of what to write, my mind is racing in several different directions. There are so many things I could say about the work that is being done here at your Center that there would not be room to include it in the messenger. One of the first things I want to tell about is our "Resurrection Celebration" on April 19th. We are expecting 300 families to come to the Center that Saturday. The thought of getting to share the gospel with so many families causes us to be excited. We ask you to pray for that day and if you can come out and be a part of the activites you are invited to do so. Just let us know.

Also, we would mention that the food is holding up, but we would feel better if we had more coming in because of all the new clients we are getting. There is a great need for cleaning supplies and tissue paper. Please make this a matter of prayer and also help us by meeting these needs.

There is another concern that we have and that is volunteers. A lot of our workers have been sick and we have not been able to get everything done. If you could work a few hours we sure could use you. We could use another church or two to come help us on our clothing room days. If you are one that could spare some time it would be a blessing to us and you as well.

It is not too early to start thinking about the back packs and school supplies for this summer. It will be upon us before we know it.

Just a reminder to the churches that are on the team to bring food for May and June. Churches to bring food for May are: Maryville First, East Walland, Four Mile, Friendly Hill, Friendship, Maple Grove, and Niles Ferry.   Churches to bring food for June are: Monte Vista, Carson Island, Centenary, Liberty, Mount Carmel, Union Grove, and Oak Hill.

I want to say a big "Thank You" to all who have worked and brought donations to the Center. It is very important that you come and help us and pray for us.
