Townsend's Heritage Festival and Old Timers Day celebrates the history and the people of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Crafters demonstrate pottery, quilting, woodworking, making of molasses and other aspects of life in the Tennessee mountains.

A fun and entertaining part of the festival are the bluegrass jam sessions on the porch of the Townsend Visitor Center and the scheduled musical performances.

CHARM volunteers serve the visitors by providing a shady place for them to have the meals they purchase from food vendors.

Volunteers help the visitor center staff and the many vendors in various ways.

CHARM uses volunteers for two-hour shifts during the festival.
